Year End Awards

County award: Champion and reserve champion awards will be awarded in each division for each county/area recognized by VSA. The competitor must show in a minimum of 2 shows that are held within the county that they would like to gain points for. Each competitor is only allowed to point for one county. To determine the winners, your top two placing shows in your county will be averaged together to determine your score. In the case of a tie, awards will be determined by an overall average based on all pointed shows.

State Awards: Champion and reserve champion award will be given in each division. To qualify, the competitor must show in a minimum of 2 in county and 1 out of county show for the state awards. For year end awards winners will be determined by averaging the top three shows ( 2 in county, 1 out of county). High Point Award: Champion awards will be awarded in each division to the competitor who accumulates the most points from showing in VSA approved classes at VSA affiliated shows throughout the season.

Showmanship Award: The rider must compete in at least 3 showmanship classes with the same horse within the season. An average will be recorded by the show secretary from your total showmanship placing from VSA shows through out the year.Prizes to be awarded champion and reserve winners. All age youth and adults may compete for this award

Halter Award: You show in an Open Halter class at any VSA approved show, minimum of three shows to qualify. The points secretary will then add up your total Halter points and divide them by the number of shows to get your average score. The halter classes must be open to all breeds and sexes and include movement in the judgement process. The highest scorer wins the award, which will be presented at the yearly banquet.

Equitation Challenge: The rider must show in a walk, jog, lope division. You show in your respective classes/division at any VSA approved show, minimum of 3 shows to qualify. The point secretary ill then add your total western equitation/horsemanship points and divide them by the number of shows to get your average score. Awards will be given at the yearly banquet.

Western Pleasure Maturity: The horse must be 5 years old or older, and the competitor must show in a walk, jog, lope division. You show in your respective classes/division at any VSA approved show, with a minimum of 3 shows to qualify. The point secretary will then add up your total Western Pleasure points and divide them by the number of shows to get your average score. The highest scorer wins the award, which will be given out at the yearly awards banquet.

Versitile Horse Challenge: The rider must show in a walk, jog, lope division. Minimum of 3 shows to qualify. Points may be gained from the following classes - English Pleasure, Western Pleasure, open pleasure Or pleasure of your division- I.e. adult pleasure, English Equitation, Western Equitation, or equitation of your division, Reining, and Road Hack. A rider must compete in both seats during any given show with a single horse. The riding unity must compete in at least 4 of these classes in a show and submit an average of the top four scores to the VSA points secretary to qualify. No points will be submitted by show secretaries, it is the sole responsibility of the competitor to submit these points by Oct. 1 to qualify. Points form for competitors will be provided.

Green Mt. Trail Award: This award for trail riding enthusiasts will be based on hours accumulated outside of the show ring ie- pleasure, competitive, and endurance riding. During the periods of May 1st- Sept 30th hours in the saddle will be logged by the rider. At the end of the year trail hours will be submitted to the recording secretary by Oct. 10th. This program is based on a paid riding unit of the same horse and equestrian thru out the season. If multiple horses are used each horse must be entered and paid for separately as a new riding unit. The trail award will be given to the unit accumulating the most hours in the set season. Champion and Reserve awards will be presented to the top two youth and adult entrants at the annual banquet. This program is open to all seats and ages of riders. The unit must also pay a membership fee or family membership in addition to their riding unit fee to participate.

Leadline: VSA will recognize and award leadliners at the end of the year. The children must be a currend VSA member at the time of the show, with a minumum of 3 shows attended throughout the season. The horse that they use does not have to be the same at every show. The secretaries will be asked to write down then names of the lead liners that participated and showed their current VSA membership number. Awards will be given out at the yearly awards banquet.
